I, too, an obssessed with gardening, talking about gardening, thinking about plants, etc.

We've had quite a bit of rain where I live, but then we are supposed to get rain! 1/2" is nothing to us... several inches at a time? Then we get flooding.Carol Michelhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07796344366326535406noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-22794371.post-1161335143644189102006-10-20T02:05:00.000-07:002006-10-20T02:05:00.000-07:00man, that would bum me out too. I am hoping no rain or drizzle today, as I organized a field trip for the homeschoolers to a local family owned organic farm. We are going to feed the chickens and rabbits, go on a hayride, play fun games, etc. The forecast says it will be sunny, but it will only be 45 degrees at 9 o'clock. I hope that doesn't scare anyone away. I hope it is dry for your event next Saturday, tooAlipurrhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/15374786444894161920noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-22794371.post-1161211631202173312006-10-18T15:47:00.000-07:002006-10-18T15:47:00.000-07:00I think people who show up in spite of harsh weath...I think people who show up in spite of harsh weather conditions are fantastic - guides, spectators alike. As a side note, only one kid from my old neighborhood made a name for himself in show business. Tragically, however, he was killed (murdered) apparently jogging the dry stretches around Vegas about a year ago.

I know that doesn't have anything to do with what you were talking about, but it just happened to come to mind.Big Dave Thttps://www.blogger.com/profile/18363712781308133633noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-22794371.post-1161131295093432772006-10-17T17:28:00.000-07:002006-10-17T17:28:00.000-07:00I love the rain but it always seems to hit at the ...I love the rain but it always seems to hit at the worst possible time. I walked out into the back yard as I was collecting my bird feeders to clean them and then put them back up, and I just about sunk a couple of inches. It was very soggy.

I can imagine, when it rains in LV, that there is so much run-off and that makes for dangerous conditions. When it rains 1/2 inch here, it's nothing. When it rains 1/2 inch there, you have a flood.

Sorry your event got rained out.Motherkittyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05112722238053618079noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-22794371.post-1161126582148277332006-10-17T16:09:00.000-07:002006-10-17T16:09:00.000-07:00I know you needed rain but I'm sure you would have...I know you needed rain but I'm sure you would have wished it rained ANOTHER day!! lol What a shame it put a damper on your day Saturday but you just never know with the weather! I always enjoy hearing them.

I love the desert, especially when it is green. The desert at Big Bend National Park gets about ten inches of rain a year, which is just about perfect. Any more and it would be a grassland/scrub mixture, and any less and the variety of plants would not be as great.

The last time I went to Big Bend, it had rained a few days before, so it was green and there were flowers here and there. The overnight temperature went down to about sixty, so it was great walking weather. I went by myself, even though it was a ten hour drive each way. I stayed for two days and took lots of pictures. I saved my favorite ones and maybe one of these days I will do a post about my trip.

Hope you have a nice week.Garyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/11104981732733112853noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-22794371.post-1161039774630826252006-10-16T16:02:00.000-07:002006-10-16T16:02:00.000-07:00Did I ever tell you I LOVE LAS VEGAS....The first ...Did I ever tell you I LOVE LAS VEGAS....The first time I went their, was on a train with 13 other ladies....and then I would go every year, but fly....I remember a casino that had a beautiful garden display.....and one time when I was their, waiting for a bus to go on a tour, it hailed....and then it rained and flooded.....I remember seeing people standing on the roof of their car......

I bet you did enjoy conducting the tours through the garden....it's fun when you know what your talking about, to share it with other people.....Judypatoootehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14772772712062934968noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-22794371.post-1161037364244185232006-10-16T15:22:00.000-07:002006-10-16T15:22:00.000-07:00If it's going to rain again, I hope for your sake,...If it's going to rain again, I hope for your sake, that it rains during the week before your next big event.

The rain must really cause flooding there because once when Jimmy & I were in Az, a thunderstorm was brewing so we headed out only to be chased after amd stopped by the local police and advised for our safety to head back to town, get a room for the night and stay put until morning. So we did.Sandy Hatcher-Wallacehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/15011307599473627922noreply@blogger.com
